Making Face Frames – DIY Kitchen Cabinets Ep 3
Hey everyone! I’m continuing my build series on making my own custom DIY kitchen cabinets. I’m doing high end cabinetry and encouraging everyone to try making their own. In the previous episode I discussed Making Plans from a SketchUp Model. In this episode I discuss making the face frame. This is pretty easy to do! I use pocket hole joinery and a Kreg jig after dimensioning the wood. I am using alder wood, milled down to ¾” thickness and then ripped on a table saw.
You can download my Kitchen Cabinet SketchUp File and modify it to build your own set of cabinets in this style.

Corbin, where did you get the S3S wood for the project?
Hey jonathon! I got it from Moore Newton in San Leandro. They had good prices and lots of selection. I also used Aura Hardwoods in San Jose; I found the selection not as good and the prices a tiny bit higher… depending on what I bought.
